Col.\u00a0<a id=\"auto-tag_ralph-peters\" href=\"http:\/\/variety.com\/t\/ralph-peters\/\" data-tag=\"ralph-peters\">Ralph Peters<\/a>, an Army veteran and\u00a0<a id=\"auto-tag_fox-news\" href=\"http:\/\/variety.com\/t\/fox-news\/\" data-tag=\"fox-news\">Fox News<\/a>\u00a0contributor, quit the network on Tuesday in an email to his colleagues, saying he was \u201cashamed\u201d of working there.<\/p>\n<p>As first reported by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.buzzfeed.com\/tomnamako\/ralph-peters?utm_term=.ckxaQQDrq#.ub3M22VGz\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Buzzfeed News<\/a>, Peters chose not to renew his contract after serving as a contributor for more than a decade, as he feels that, \u201c<a id=\"related_article_link_fox-news\" href=\"http:\/\/variety.com\/2018\/biz\/news\/fox-news-seth-rich-joel-mary-rich-1202726144\/\" data-tag=\"fox-news\">Fox News<\/a>\u00a0is assaulting our constitutional order and the rule of law, while fostering corrosive and unjustified paranoia among viewers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn my view, Fox has degenerated from providing a legitimate and much-needed outlet for conservative voices to a mere propaganda machine for a destructive and ethically ruinous administration,\u201d he continued in the email obtained by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.buzzfeed.com\/tomnamako\/ralph-peters?utm_term=.ckxaQQDrq#.ub3M22VGz\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Buzzfeed<\/a>.\u00a0\u201cWhen primetime hosts \u2014 who have never served our country in any capacity \u2014 dismiss facts and empirical reality to launch profoundly dishonest assaults on the FBI, the Justice Department, the courts, the intelligence community (in which I served) and, not least, a model public servant and genuine war hero such as Robert Mueller \u2014 all the while scaremongering with lurid warnings of \u2018deep-state\u2019 machinations \u2014 I cannot be part of the same organization, even at a remove.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"adm-inline-article-ad-1\" class=\"admz\">\n<div class=\"adma google-publisher\" data-device=\"Desktop\" data-width=\"300\">\n<div class=\"pmc-adm-goog-pub-div \">\n<div id=\"gpt-variety-article-mid-article-uid0\" class=\"ad-rotatable adw-300 adh-250\" data-google-query-id=\"CO6wms7d_dkCFZeXyAodqoMIXw\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Peters specifically targeted Fox News\u2019 coverage of Trump\u2019s connection to Russia and President Vladimir Putin, noting that he was a Russia analyst for many years. \u201cIt also has appalled me that hosts who made their reputations as super-patriots and who, justifiably, savaged President Obama for his duplicitous folly with Putin, now advance Putin\u2019s agenda by making light of Russian penetration of our elections and the Trump campaign. Despite increasingly pathetic denials, it turns out that the \u2018nothing-burger\u2019 has been covered with Russian dressing all along,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>At the end of the statement, the former contributor said his criticisms did not apply to Fox Business, who he called \u201cthe grownups,\u201d and signed off with \u201cas our president\u2019s favorite world leader would say, \u2018Dasvidanya,&#8217;\u201d which is Russian for \u201cgoodbye.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In a statement, Fox News responded to Peters\u2019 comments, saying, \u201cRalph Peters is entitled to his opinion, despite the fact that he\u2019s choosing to use it as a weapon in order to gain attention. We are extremely proud of our top-rated primetime hosts and all of our opinion programming.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In 2015, Fox News briefly suspended\u00a0Peters for calling then-President Barack Obama a \u201cp\u2014-\u201d on live television.
