Nothing makes men hornier than a tight political race, so I would guess Iowa and New Hampshire have been the horniest states in the nation lately.\u00a0The\u00a0Iowa caucuses<\/a>\u00a0and New Hampshire primaries\u00a0bring to town politicians, campaign workers, and political fanboys who \u2014\u00a0aside from diehard\u00a0political fervor \u2014 bring their\u00a0needs for\u00a0an election night\u00a0bae.<\/a><\/p>\n

Browsing the sexy websites of high-end escorts based\u00a0in the New England\u00a0area this weekend, most of their calendars (yes, escorts have booking calendars) said\u00a0they’d be\u00a0in and\u00a0around\u00a0Manchester, New Hampshire, on Feb.\u00a08\u00a0and 9.\u00a0 So I called up a few.\u00a0Mollie Minx, 21, a New Hampshire-based professional escort, told me her business has picked up significantly\u00a0\u2014\u00a0just this weekend, she met up with\u00a0three\u00a0clients who were in town\u00a0for the event. A\u00a0dominatrix\u00a0who calls herself\u00a0Princess Dandy, 24, said\u00a0that\u00a0while she typically gets no more than two requests on an average weekend,\u00a0she\u00a0had15\u00a0requests (all mostly last-minute, wanting to see her that day) over the\u00a0pre-New-Hampshire-primary weekend.<\/p>\n

Iowa escorts enjoyed the traffic spike last week\u00a0too.\u00a0Rachel*, 38, a Des Moines-based escort,\u00a0said she woke\u00a0up each morning last week with “five or six” calls from numbers she didn’t know \u2014 a rarity in a state not known for its tourism.\u00a0“All week, I\u00a0had excessive\u00a0calls all the way up until 5 o’clock in the morning, because of the caucuses,” she said.\u00a0Another Iowa\u00a0escort\u00a0named Kylie*, 31,\u00a0said she noticed the same spike in calls from guys\u00a0who were not her regulars. They were there for the caucuses, she said, and they\u00a0were looking for\u00a0company.<\/p>\n

These political johns were older than their usual,\u00a0local clientele, Mollie, Dandy, and Kylie all agreed\u00a0(40s through mid-60s, compared with mostly twentysomething regulars),\u00a0and\u00a0were more direct in their initial approach.\u00a0“They try to be\u00a0as clear as possible<\/em>, and send a list of what they’re looking for,” Dandy explained.\u00a0She said that sort of professionalism and ease\u00a0made\u00a0it seem to her like “they’ve clearly done this before.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The no. 1\u00a0sex request\u00a0on those lists? Wanting to be in a submissive role, for a change.\u00a0“A lot of them are looking to release some control,” said Dandy,\u00a0“They don’t want to be in charge \u2014 most of these guys just want to give up some power.” And even though Mollie isn’t a dominatrix, per se, she also noticed the political junkies “tending toward the submissive side.” It makes sense: Dealing in power politics on a daily basis makes letting\u00a0someone else take charge for a while sound pretty damn\u00a0great.\u00a0An actual spanking is\u00a0better than a metaphorical spanking in the polls, after all.<\/p>\n

Other than\u00a0light BDSM, Mollie\u00a0did grant one other wish:\u00a0“I had one Republican hit me up with an old-fashioned outfit request,” she said, “but\u00a0that’s kind of the way I dress\u00a0anyway.” Ironic,\u00a0considering how Millennials have critiqued the Republican party for being\u00a0“old-fashioned<\/a>.”\u00a0Mollie describes her style on her website as\u00a0“a 1950’s gal looking to entertain in true\u00a0Mad Men<\/em>\u00a0style. Think Betty Page or Joan Holloway \u2014\u00a0heels, hose, anything goes.” A gallery of personal photos show her in full dirty-’50s-housewife mode:\u00a0red and black lacy lingerie, high-waisted hose, reasonable pumps.<\/p>\n

Of the five women who replied to requests for interviews, Mollie was the only one who asked her clients\u00a0which way they swing; you know, Democrat or Republican. She ended up meeting with one Republican campaigner and two Democrats, and, while she couldn’t say which campaigns they worked on, she did get\u00a0into “a Bernie-versus-Hillary debate with one guy a few days ago.”\u00a0In the end,\u00a0one side won her heart:\u00a0“I might be biased, but I typically enjoy the company of Democrats more, just because I feel like our views line up a lot more,” Mollie said.\u00a0(When it comes to sex talk,\u00a0Bernie Sanders<\/a>\u00a0wrote a trashy erotic essay\u00a0in the ’70s, while\u00a0Marco Rubio<\/a>\u00a0proposed taking sex workers’ money in 2006.)<\/p>\n

One thing men of both political parties did have in common was a need for discretion, and an understanding that getting caught with your pants down on the campaign trail wouldn’t be the best look.\u00a0Kylie messaged with one guy who\u00a0“was a\u00a0mayor\u00a0from out of\u00a0town, and another was some sort of state representative,” but\u00a0both evaded her requests for their names and occupations.\u00a0Once she found out who they were\u00a0(she researches all her clients online, and\u00a0found them\u00a0via Google and LinkedIn),\u00a0Kylie didn’t end meet\u00a0with either of them \u2014 she refuses\u00a0any client who lies\u00a0or withholds personal information.\u00a0Mollie said\u00a0the primaries guys\u00a0did seem a bit more nervous about seeing an escort than her regular clients (I guess the stakes are higher when you’re working for a possible future president) but all\u00a0practiced impeccable manners, some offering\u00a0her a bottle of wine when she arrived. Kylie said a retired lawyer in his 60s\u00a0with an extensive career background in politics treated her to Champagne and paid her more\u00a0than her time cost \u2014 a much-appreciated gesture.<\/p>\n

For politicos, the long, lonely campaign trail is paved with used condoms and good intentions. Whether they’re cheating on the road or just looking for some discreet fun, at least the evidence points to these guys not being total jackasses.\u00a0They’re\u00a0some of\u00a0America’s best and brightest,\u00a0after all.\u00a0“Usually,” as\u00a0Mollie said, “they’re just looking for a distraction, or some nice company.”<\/p>\n
